Pre-Appointment
Checklist
Things to Avoid Before Your Appointment
Excessive Sun Exposure: Avoid prolonged sun exposure on the area to be tattooed for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
Shaving: Do not shave the area. Trimming with an electric razor is okay, but avoid using a blade to prevent irritation or cuts.
Poor Sleep: Try to get a full night’s rest before your session. Fatigue can lower your pain tolerance and affect your overall experience.
Cuts or Irritation: Avoid any cuts, abrasions, or damage to the area we’ll be tattooing. If this happens, please let me know.
Alcohol: Do not consume alcohol the night before or the day of your appointment. It can thin your blood and affect healing.
Skin Conditions: If you notice any rash, redness, irritation, or abnormalities in the tattoo area, please contact me as soon as possible. We may need to reschedule.
Blood-Thinning Medications: Avoid taking any blood thinners or painkillers (such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen) before your appointment unless prescribed by your doctor.
Numbing Products: Do not apply any numbing creams or products unless we’ve discussed it beforehand. I generally advise against them for several reasons, which I’m happy to go over with you.

Hydration
Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water the night before, the morning of, and throughout the day of your appointment.
Eat Before You Arrive
Have a filling, nutritious meal 1–2 hours before your appointment. This helps with energy and tolerance during the session.
Moisturize Daily
Start moisturizing your skin at least two weeks prior to your appointment. We recommend Lubriderm Unscented Lotion (blue cap). Well-moisturized skin accepts ink better and makes the tattooing process easier.
Get Good Sleep
Try to get quality sleep in the days leading up to your appointment. Being well-rested can significantly improve your pain tolerance.
Clean Your Environment
Launder your clothes and bedsheets, and clean all common surfaces in your home. If you have pets, this step is especially important to help reduce the risk of infection.
Plan for Recovery Time
If you work out regularly, plan for 2–5 rest days after your appointment, depending on the tattoo’s size, location, and complexity. You might want to get workouts in beforehand so you can rest comfortably afterwards.
Prepare Aftercare Products
Purchase all necessary aftercare products in advance so you’re fully prepared to care for your new tattoo immediately after your session
